Pick the best running shoes for your feet

If you’re a runner, you know that a comfortable pair of running shoes is important, but finding the perfect pair of shoes isn’t always easy.  And to make sure you walk out with happy feet, it is important to know your running style, before you invest in a good pair of running shoes. In this article we give you tips on how to choose the perfect pair of running shoes.

When you first try out a new pair of running shoes, they will feel comfortable. But, the true test begins once you  hit the running track . It is only then that you will realize that your ideal pair of shoes has a lot to do with the shape of your foot and running style.

Research shows that you if pound the pavement regularly, it is important to chose running shoes, which are light and flexible, because they tend to cushion or stabilise the feet during repetitive strides on hard, even surfaces.

If you run on muddy terrain , then make sure that you chose shoes that are outfitted with aggressive outsoles and offer stability, support and underfoot protection.

It is also important to know your correct shoe size, if you are not sure about this, do not hesitate to ask the  salesperson for help. It is also important to know the shape of your arch. So after you take a shower or a bath take a look at the footprint you leave on your bath mat. The shape of your footprint will indicate what kind of arch you have.

There are three main foot types; flat, neutral and high arches. Those who have flat feet have fallen arches, making them flexible and prone to overpronation, an inward rolling motion. Neutral feet are the most biomechanically sound  and are not prone to injury. While those with high-arched feet have supination, or tend to land on the outside edges of the feet.

Once you’re aware of what kind of feet you have it makes it easier to chose the perfect running shoe for your feet. If you are flat-footed choose a higher stability shoe, as they help prevent overpronation. Neutral runners are the luckiest as they can safely choose any running shoe. But an ideal shoe for this kind of foot should be a moderate stability shoe. Runners with high arches must chose shoes with midsole padding with flexibility.

REVOFIT TAKE: Once you are aware of the shape of your foot and the kind of terrain you run on, make sure you chose a shoe that feels like it is  a part of your foot, one which will prevent injuries and work  in harmony with your natural foot shape and biomechanics. Also remember, that the best time to buy running shoes is in the afternoon when your feet have expanded to their largest size. It is also a good decision to buy your running shoes from a speciality shoe store as they will be able to help you chose the perfect running shoe for your foot.  It is also helpful to take along your old running shoes to show them to the salesperson, to help them determine what kind of running shoes you require.
