Exercises to improve your running speed

If you’re looking to improve your running speed and become a faster runner, then you have come to the right place. Besides following a healthy eating pattern, it is important to add the following exercises to your daily exercise regime to increase your speed and become faster. So, the next time you’re heading out for a run, make sure you do these exercises.

Increase the duration: So you want to become a better runner? Well in that case you need to start running more and for a longer period.  It is important to increase the duration that you are running for and you will notice a considerable improvement in a matter of weeks.

Lunges: This strength training exercise will not only build your leg muscles, but will help you to run longer and faster.  Just make sure that you adopt the correct form, while doing lunges and as you get stronger, you can add weights.

Burpees: Are a great exercise to build stronger lower body muscles and strong legs will enable runners to push themselves further, without causing any injuries. Just make sure that you are doing this exercise properly by making sure that you lower your body properly as you thrust your legs back.

Plyometrics: Include exercises such as jump lunges, jump squats and box jumps. Since these exercises ensure that you work all your muscles, they will help you increase your speed and strengthen your core.

Plank: This exercise is perfect for building and strengthening the core muscles and will help you increase your running speed, if practiced regularly. But if you want to take it to the next level you can try doing the plank  on an exercise ball. If you perform this exercise on an exercise ball, it will help put additional pressure on your core and in a few weeks you will be able to push yourself to run harder and longer.
